“Surely the reason Christ said, ‘Father, forgive them,’ was because even in that terrible hour He knew that this was the message He had come through all eternity to deliver.”

Hope, Healing, and Dealing with Addiction

Thankfully, most of us won’t have to deal with a spouse who has an addiction problem. But for those who do, an article by Michael D. Gardner of LDS Family Services in this month’s Ensign offers some advice. “Hope, Healing, and Dealing with Addiction” discusses healthy and constructive ways to react to a spouse’s addictive behavior. It also identifies some unhealthy attitudes and behavior’s that a person should avoid in such a situation and gives some scriptural advice on how to seek hope and healing through the Lord. Though it deals specifically with addiction, I think this article also has some good general advice for handling difficult situations between spouses.
